These Gilder's Knives have 6" blades and hardwood handles riveted to a full tang. The Carbon Steel knife has steel rivets and can be easily sharpened while the more expensive Stainless Steel knife (brass rivets), may need to be professionally sharpened. It is important to remember when sharpening the blades that they need to be sharp to cut through the gold cleanly, but not so sharp that they will cut into the cushion.
