Product Overview
HiLite or Interference mica powders are made by coating mica particles with varying thin layers of titanium dioxide which affect which parts of the light spectrum are reflected when the mica is subjected to white light (when all the interference colors are mixed together in equal amounts the full light spectrum is restored recreating white light). When larger particles are used the result is a more granular effect but less coverage, when smaller particles are used the result is a more homogeneous effect with more coverage. Interference colors look most striking on dark backgrounds or with small amounts of dark pigment added (1-2%) in a clear paint base. Interference mica powders also look particularity good in wax bases and glazes used as a top coat.
